Collaboration with Christopher Ford

Within arts education there is contradiction. Young artists are guided by mentors yet pushed to be self directed. Letters to a Young Poet and its descendant Letters to a Young Artist are fixtures on the shelf of many young artists. The call numbers inside the red box correspond to holdings in the William Morris Hunt Memorial Library. Inside a few of these volumes are notecards containing selected quotes from Rilke or Letters to a Young Artist. Artists within our school community have written responses to these quotes on the verso of the card. As time goes by the call number cards will be removed and the origin of the Rilke/Artist cards will have been forgotten. Each leftover notecard will become a unique entity within the stacks.
